Jamaica Shade Tree

For my most recent visit to Jamaica, I chose to stay in Negril. There really is something to be said about the beautiful landscape on the west end of the island. RIU Club Negril was my home for seven sun-filled days. Some of the resort amenities I enjoyed were in-room wifi and liquor dispenser, daily stocked mini-fridge full of sodas and much needed bottled water. The beach area was nice, water was crystal clear with plenty of padded lounge chairs available each day. I had no problem finding a bit of shade to lounge under when the sun was too much. We enjoyed reggae music on the beach and live entertainment in the theatre in the evenings. I had some of the best tasting lobster and crab of my life on vendor row! From ocean to plate in 15 minutes, it doesn’t get much fresher than that. I booked a sunset catamaran ride with stops at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and Rick’s Café. I dove from the cliff (and yes, I was scared). Rick Café is lively, full of energy and worth every minute of people watching. 

The island of Jamaica is one of my favorite vacation destinations. A tropical paradise with white sandy beaches and clear turquoise waters; Jamaica is the perfect place to do everything or nothing at all. Whether you stay in Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios or one of the beautiful places in between, the island has such a distinct culture unlike any other. The pride of country in Jamaica is contagious. From locally produced Green Mountain Coffee, Appleton Rum and Red Stripe Beer, to record-breaking Usain Bolt and legendary Bob Marley. You will begin to feel at home and understand for yourself why Jamaica is one of the top Caribbean destinations.
